There is no nation in the world for which oak meant nothing. It is the basis of many cultures and civilizations – they built houses, castles, ships from oak, and prayed for oak.
We, the Samogitians of Lithuania, maintained that connection the strongest. Our parents, grandparents, great-grandparents felt and still feel the oak especially … After the birth of their son – they planted an oak tree in the yard, after the death of their husband – they decorated the grave with oaks … “Oak is the abode of the Gods” – we still say … And we say that it is all our strength.
